About this property

Welcome to Hotel Escala Siglo XXI

Located in the Obrera neighborhood of Cuauhtémoc, Hotel Escala Siglo XXI offers a straightforward, no-frills stay with essential amenities including free Wi-Fi, paid breakfast, free parking, a restaurant, and airport shuttle services. The hotel accommodates guests with pets and features a hot tub, although it does not have a pool, air conditioning, or a fitness center. Rooms are reported to be spacious and clean but lack air conditioning, which guests find manageable during cooler months due to good ventilation.

The surroundings present a working-class, industrial atmosphere with nearby conveniences such as convenience stores and local food stalls. Many travelers appreciate the well-lit streets and safety of the area as well as its proximity—within a five-minute walk—to Chabacano Metro station, providing easy access to cultural highlights like the Palacio de Bellas Artes, Museo Nacional de Antropología, and Constitution Plaza. This location suits visitors interested in exploring these nearby attractions without staying directly in tourist-heavy districts.

Guest reviews reflect a mixed but generally positive experience. The hotel staff are frequently praised for their friendliness and helpfulness, and the restaurant food is considered good. Some find the room lighting dim and the mattresses quite firm, with windows allowing outside noise, which can be disruptive for light sleepers. Despite this, many guests highlight the hotel's practicality, cleanliness, and value, especially for those seeking a convenient base near public transportation rather than luxury accommodations.

Ideal for travelers looking for a budget-conscious option in a dynamic urban setting, Hotel Escala Siglo XXI is suitable for visitors who prioritize location and basic comfort over upscale amenities. It offers a functional stay for those planning to explore Mexico City's cultural sites and nightlife, especially in the nearby Zona Rosa area.

I stayed at this hotel for the Bad Bunny concert 12/15. When I went it wasn't noisy. Some big pros for this Hotel were the location: it's in a VERY WELL lit area! This area is also safe and has a couple of stores (like OXXO and about 2-3 tienditas). There's also a pizza place about 100ft away (can't remember if it's Domino's or Pizza Hut). On the opposite side of the street there's a small puestesito where they serve food. (I didn't try it/didn't call my attention.) I also liked how it was super close to el metro. Chabacano station. It was probably about a 5 minute walk. And once again to get to the hotels all the streets were brightly lit up, there were also other puestos outside of the station and on the way to the hotel. I stopped at one around midnight. The lighting in the room is very dim, but having the window shade up helps during the day time. Attached is a view from my room. There is no AC to control, but to me the room was neither too hot or too cold.

Although decor is odd, it’s a nice place to stay. Price is fair, location is not luxurious (working people neighborhood, nothing nice to walk around) it seems to be a kind of a safe area, close to airport and La Condesa. WiFi works very well, cable TV is as expected, everything is clean but the mattress AND the pillows are hard as a rock, I ended up buying my own pillow so I could get a better sleep. Hotel personnel is nice and polite specially Norma. A special topic is the restaurant, food is very good and not expensive at all. I’d suggest to add some decorations like some nice pictures of any of those beautiful Mexican art crafts to make it more inviting as well as making customers feel more at ease. If not for the mattress and pillows, in overall, I enjoyed my stay at this hotel.

Am an American and stayed here for three weeks. Staff were always very nice and front desk staff are able to speak English. Food at the hotel's restuarant was always very good, the coffee especially was excellent (although this is true of all the coffee I had in CDMX. No AC but never had an issue with the room getting too hot, the building is clearly built around not having AC and has good ventilation. Windows let in a lot of outside noise which didn't bother me since it's similar to what I experience at home, others will definitely find this annoying. I'mArea around the hotel is very industrial, lots of small machine shops and printing businesses. Never felt unsafe even when walking around at 10pm. Couple very good food options within 20 min walk away, lots of good street stalls. Very close to Metro with Chabacano station being only a 5 min walk away. Fantastic hotel if you don't want to be in the middle of the touristy areas.

We stayed 1 night. Reception was amazing. They let us leave our bags HOURS before check in and let us check in late in the night. All staff was very welcoming. Rooms were spacious, clean, and comfortable. Recommend would go again

The rooms are spacious but it sucked there's no air conditioning. However during Fall and winter, it's cool without AC.

Service, great! Cleanliness, great! My only complaints are that the lights in the rooms are not the best (it’s definitely a bit dark in there), it is a noisy neighbourhood at night (bring ear plugs if you’re a light sleeper), and the mattress are a little hard. I personally enjoyed the location as it has many amenities nearby. Doesn’t get more authentic Mexico City than this!
